We’re Here!

We made it to Cologne and are starting to settle into our new apartment. It’s been a challenging first week here. Saying goodbye to friends and family and moving to a new country (where you don’t even know the language) is definitely hard, but I had anticipated that. What I didn’t anticipate was the fact that I would have to separate every piece of garbage or that I wouldn’t be able to read the directions on packages of food or that it rains EVERY DAY in Cologne. But it definitely has it’s perks too. Traveling from country to country is so easy. We were able to drive to Belgium for a night and got to experience a (almost) hundred year old WWI remembrance ceremony, drink delicious Belgian beer and unknowingly take a picture of a British princess. I know it will get better every day and you can’t beat living in a country where beer is cheaper than water.

  1. Like the picture….is this the street you live on? I would not have thought about the difficulty you might encounter reading directions on food packages, either. Maybe you’ll be acquiring those language skills faster than you think.
Can’t wait to here more about your adventures!šŸ˜

  2. Looks so cool, like a postcard! Glad you’re settling in, there’s so much to get used to. It’ll be nice when the weather improves and you can spend more time outside. Love your blog!
