For the past few months, Alex and I have been going hiking with a group of people (anywhere between 6-20 people) from all over the world. The group started about 10 years ago when a German language tutor decided to get all of her students together to hike and practice German once a month. Now the group has expanded to students, friends of students and basically anyone who wants to join and speak (ein bisschen) German.
My friend Amy is one of her students and she invited Alex and me to come along a few months ago. We really enjoyed it and have been going ever since. The hike is located in different regions usually about an hour outside of Köln. We hike anywhere between 7-15km each time. We usually hike to a castle or castle ruins (last month was a Christmas market!). Then we always end up at a beer garden, restaurant or cafe. It’s been really fun and we plan to continue hiking until we leave.

It’s great that you’ve joined a group to hike with….Enjoy! Love the ruins! I see they have snow there, too. Snow shoes or boots? Ours is almost gone but I’m sure there’s more where that came from!
